Monica Laughlin – Business Manager
Monica Laughlin joined the staff of The Claude Pepper Foundation, Inc. in 1993 and joined the staff of the Claude Pepper Center in 2005. During the 1990s she worked with staff of the Pepper Foundation as efforts were made to establish the Pepper Center at Florida State University for the purpose of supporting research and education that focuses on social policy issues. The Pepper Center was created also to house the Claude Pepper Library, Pepper Institute on Aging, and Pepper Foundation. Efforts were made during this time to create a museum where exhibits within the Pepper Center would depict the life and career of Senator Claude Pepper.
Over the years she has served both entities, Ms. Laughlin has provided business management support in the areas of project management, financial management, human resource and administrative support. Her position also supports the work of the director of the Pepper Center and she works alongside of research faculty and staff in carrying out the mission of the Center. She remains an integral part of the organization’s daily activities and assists in the planning and implementation of programs and special events sponsored by the Claude Pepper Center and coordinates activities that occur between the Pepper Center and other departments and entities within and outside of the University. The Claude Pepper Foundation was established in 1986 by Senator Claude Pepper and has seen Senator Pepper’s legacy and ideals carried out through the work of the Pepper Center.
